To consolidate and preserve the history of the Leather, LGBTQIA+, and Non-Monogamous Communities, and to educate future generations looking for where they belong.
The Leather Library of Alexandria was created to serve our communities in a way that allows knowledge to be curated and distributed for the benefit of all – whether they be a member of the communities, scholars looking for where to start in the process of studying the history of the communities, or a stranger who is looking for where they may belong. Because so much of our history is inextricably intertwined, it is impossible to discuss one group, one history, or one set of traditions without showing how they have interacted for better or worse. We have a history, myriad oral traditions, practices and protocols - and hope for a future that will not be hidden in a closet.
